Entrance Requirements

In order to qualify for entrance into one of the programmes of study at H.T.C., it is required that the prospective student be a professing Christian whose Christian character has been demonstrated and observed in the context of the local church. A letter of recommendation from the applicant's church leadership or pastor to this effect is required. The academic entrance requirements for the diploma programme are 5 O'Levels, one of which must be English Language as English is the primary means of communication in the classroom. For the degree programme, one should have two A'Levels, preferably one of which should be an arts subject (e.g. English Literature, Divinity, History, etc.). Exceptions can be made for an applicant who does not have the necessary academic entrance requirements if the applicant is considered to be a mature adult (over 30 years of age for men and 27 years of age for women) whose English proficiency is considered to be at a high enough level (an exam will be given to test this), and the applicant has had significant ministry experience (3 years minimum). Prospective students will also be expected to come to H.T.C. for an interview before an admissions committee once all documentation is in, and only once the prospective student has been interviewed will a final decision be made on the suitability of the applicant for studies at H.T.C. A letter from the Registrar will notify the applicant of the admissions committee's decision.

Those who wish to be part-time students come under the same entrance requirements as stated above. Those who wish merely to audit a class do not have to have O'Levels. Before anyone can audit a class, however, the approval of the respective lecturer teaching that class has to be obtained and the lecturer has the right to limit the number of auditors in his or her class.

The minimum age for acceptance into any of our programmes is 21 years of age. This requirement may be waved if one wishes to take a limited number of courses (three or less) and is, therefore, not a full-time student.
